"Do what you believe in, and believe in what you do"
-Katrina Pawlaczyk

An avid lifelong reader, stories of the north captured Katrina's heart and imagination as a child, and would mold her life as an adult. She raised and trained the family's Siberian huskies as a small child. She later ventured out to Wasilla, Alaska, where she trained yearlings and raced in the 2006 Iditarod. "Alaska has really opened up the world to me." Katrina currently lives in Fairbanks, Alaska, with her 2 beloved dogs: Spank, who competed in the Iditarod, and Monkey.

"Alaska is a beautiful place, and very dangerous at the same time. It is an amazing thing to be one with nature, and not see or hear anything but nature. You always have to be conscious of your surroundings" says Katrina. "If you are not prepared for the unexpected, then you could be in serious trouble. Knowledge and the right equipment is the key up here. You have to believe in yourself and your equipment." Katrina believes in herself and her Profero knives. She likes the quality and the great value of Profero's products. "Profero is a company I can stand behind. I can say I am a proud owner of Profero knives."

In order to qualify for the Iditarod, competitors must race 500 miles in sanctioned events. One of these events was the Knik 200-mile race. Katrina completed the Knik 200-mile race, and finished ninth out of 14 teams, in a male dominated adventure. She also earned the race's humanitarian award. The race veterinarian selects who they think takes the best care of their dogs. Obviously, Katrina does.

"I am completely devoted to my dogs. It is that devotion that pushes me to keep myself and my dogs safe with training and attention to detail." Katrina also states that "It's a sport -- a dangerous sport. People get hurt. Dogs get hurt."

Katrina is also involved in other adventure sports. An experienced kayaker, she's paddled several of the Great Lakes, Florida's Everglades, the Grand Canyon, and Alaska's Yukon River. She guided wilderness tours in Alaska's Kenai Fjords. "You just cannot beat the experience of the great outdoors. There is truly an amazing adventure around every corner. Nature has so much to offer us and I try to experience as much of that I can."
